A Guide to Creating an Effective Photography Contract
A Guide to Creating an Effective Photography Contract put out by PhotoMint is quite helpful in identifying the kinds of things you should consider when drawing up a contract.
"As a photographer, you should take steps to minimize your legal exposure."
In my case I came across this article about a week after I'd written up a proposal for a commercial job a potential client had asked me to quote on. I pretty much covered everything in the PhotoMint document. Things I added, because I was dealing with event photography and a subcontractor who was setting up their equipment in the venue, was that my client would provide me access to the venue (i.e. pass to get in), parking, and any photographer credentials and clearances required by the venue organisers.
